Tsavorite is a relatively new gemstone. It was discovered as recently as 1967 and was given its name after the location where it was initially found – Tsavo National Park in Kenya. Tsavorite is found in Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar
Tsavorite is a member of the garnet family, linked to the grossularite variety. It gains its color from the presence of vanadium and chromium during its formation.
